Science and Technology- Are there any new advancements in Science or technology? Has anything occurred this week in either of these two categories?
Politics and Government- What is new in the world this week in regards to politics and government? This is not exclusive to the US. Look around the globe.
Environment- Are there any environmental issues of concern this week?
Social and Cultural- Is there anything new in the world that may have an impact on culture? Are there any social issues of concern?

You will document each current event on an individual google slide. You should have 5 google slides completed when you return to school in August that focus on current events throughout the summer and not all in the last week before returning to school. You will be required to submit this assignment on the 1st day of school.
What should my current event slides include to receive full credit?
● Article Title
● Author
● Summary of the article IN YOUR OWN WORDS!
● The other perspectives this article relates to and who is impacted by this story
● A picture that relates to the article
The sample slide below primarily focuses on the social and cultural perspective since it involves religion, but it also connects to the environment and politics. When working on your current events, it is important to work from sites that are unbiased. As Americans, we tend to get our news from major affiliates; however, international news affiliates can be extremely informative.
Here are some recommendations for some news sites that you can use.

We look forward to seeing all your information when you return in August! Current events always lead to great discussions in our class! If you have any questions, please email one of the teachers: [email protected] on main campus or [email protected] (for CHS Ninth Grade Center).
