During the June 2021 exam cycle, Colonial High School had an 80% pass rate with respect to the Cambridge Diploma. Not only is this one of the highest pass rates we have even recorded in the brief five year history of the program, but our graduates boast college acceptances from all over the country. The 2021 cycle marked the first time that we saw Cambridge Diplomas with Distinction.

Daniel M. who is currently on track to be our first Cambridge Diploma with Distinction has recently learned that he has also been lauded as a National Merit Semi-Finalist through the Collegeboard.
The second annual Cambridge Morp was a resounding success! Students came together to dance, eat and socialize. Mrs. Marinas and the Cambridge Student Association did a great job as they organized this very unique social. Marissa, Sarah, Alejandro, Jenna, and Nicole paused before they started dinner.
Your CSA (Cambridge Student Association) is currently planning for the 2019 Morp. Come to Mrs. Marinas' room to be part of this exciting extravaganza. Congrats to the top three in our class! Marangellie. Lilly and Kevin. Your future looks bright! Thanks for making our program shine!

The 2016 Orange County Public Schools District Magnet Fair was held at Colonial High School and was a resounding success. The CSA was on hand to showcase our program and to talk about the huge successes that we have had thus far. The CSA had a great banner for our annual Homecoming parade and was able to showcase our program! We even won third place in a highly competitive field for the decorations we were able to design!
Three of our Cambridge Students have been accepted to attend Summer@Brown, Brown University's Pre-College Program. Congratulations to Caden Woody, Alexa Isaac, and Samuel Perez!!! Caden will be attending Brown University's Sport Psychology Program where he will discover how psychological elements influence sport performance and be introduced to the basic concepts of sport psychology and psychological training techniques used to enhance athletic performance. Alexa and Samuel will be attending the US Law Program. Students in this program will gain familiarity with the U.S. legal system, learn how attorneys think and analyze, and build a general knowledge of the law that will serve as a helpful foundation for understanding how the law interacts with other disciplines that they study and pursue in the future. Alexa has also received a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to this program. Summer@Brown offers courses that are designed for students looking to experience college-level academics on an Ivy League campus. Reflecting Brown’s broad liberal arts curriculum, Summer@Brown features nearly 200 courses, designed and taught at the level of first-year college courses, and ranging in length from one to four weeks. Outside of class, students experience the independence and responsibility of life on an Ivy League campus. They meet fellow students from around the world and attend events, workshops, and social activities, including Prepare for College Success Workshops and the Summer@Brown Speaker Series. For the duration of their stay, students live and learn on the Brown University campus. See the video below to learn more about Summer@Brown. The rising seniors had the opportunity to apply for two 2016 Elevation Scholar award. The first award included a price of 35,000 dollars, while the second award was of 5,000. Students had to fill out an extensive application, submit an essay, and request two teacher recommendation.
After the submission of their application, students were interviewed, and so was their parents and a teacher. In this round, some students were eliminated. Those that passed had to be interviewed by a panel of people called the Award Selection Committee. The committee included: Harvard graduates, Duke graduates, former winners, teachers, doctors, a psychologist, actors, businessmen, and the founders themselves. That was the final round. The 2016 finalist were Amanda Yates, Khun Zaw, Flor Salcedo, and Marangellie Garcia; from these finalist, three were Cambridge students. These students attended a banquet on Thursday, May 19. Amanda Yates and Khun Zaw won the 5,000 dollar award that included tutors for ACT help and help with scholarship applications. Each 5,000 award winner showed either leadership, service, kindness, or discipline. Flor Salcedo and Marangellie Garcia won the 35,000 award that included tutoring for ACT help, scholarship applications, flights for them and their family to visit colleges, and an internship during college. From those finalist three are Cambridge students. |
